🔮 Welcome to Bohemia

Hullo, I'm Dreamer. 💖 This is my offical "About Me" sticky post- a deeper look at what I like and what I love (and what I hate!). Take a peek, if you're interested, and see if you want to stick around.

“To take the world as one finds it, the bad with the good, making the best of the present moment—to laugh at Fortune alike whether she be generous or unkind—to spend freely when one has money, and to hope gaily when one has none—to fleet the time carelessly, living for love and art—this is the temper and spirit of the modern Bohemian”

Just wanted to share this geeky lil gem of a Christmas tune from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special with y'all. It's an upbeat, energetic, kind of chaotic song (with a bit of a pop-rock vibe) that pokes fun at the holidays.

And yeah, this is probably exactly what extraterrestrials think about humans and all of our Christmas antics and lore 👽

Word/Phrase of the Day:
J'aimerais... = I would like...

Use it:
J'aimerais manger du gâteau au chocolat. / I would like to eat chocolate cake.
krakendelsur: black unicorn (unicorn)
I started compiling a playlist to listen to while I'm writing the first chapter of my fantasy/romantasy story. I'm really happy with it- it's got heavy "mysterious enchanted forest" vibes ♥

It's 23 minutes and 22 seconds long, with seven tracks, so far:

Track 1. "I Will Find You" - Dune Moss
Track 2. "Into the Woods" - PHILDEL
Track 3. "Into the Woods Somewhere" - Hozier
Track 4. "Wolves Without Teeth" - Of Monsters and Men
Track 5. "Quiet Moon" - Colossal Trailer Music
Track 6. "Celestial Nocturne" - Harp of the Elvenwood
Track 7. "New Season" - Nadiiife

If you want to listen to it you can do so 🎵 via Spotify or 🎵 via YouTube.

Currently debating whether or not to change my journal style... 🤔

I've been using a tweaked version of the Earth and Sky journal layout. While I originally loved the way it has alternating colors for posts, now I sometimes find it to be a hassle when I'm styling a post. I have to consider two different looks every time.

So, idk. Maybe it's time for a change.
krakendelsur: Blackbeard and Stede having tea (tea time)
Since I'm trying to get back into writing my stories again, I decided to write a little drabble using one of my MCs- just for practice fun.

Isolda Drinks Tea

Isolda dipped her head politely and the servant curtsied and disappeared, leaving her alone with her tea and her thoughts.

She looked down at the gold-gilded teacup they had set before her then carefully lifted it up towards her face. The luxurious smell of heart-bloom petals and silver-root immediately filled her nose. She took a small tentative sip. It was light and sweet and slightly floral.

She pulled the cup away a little and watched small curls of steam rise from it. Her mind fondly drifted off to a memory of the worst tea she'd ever had, served to her in a chipped ceramic mug.

Task: Take at least one item to be ethically off-loaded or recycled.

I'm going to have to take a look around the house, but I'm sure I have a few things I can/need to donate, and I have a few options of where to donate things in town- the Goodwill, a secondhand thrift shop (where all the money goes to animal rescues and helping fund low-cost spay/neuter events), blessing boxes, etc.

July 7: If you found a suitcase full of money in the middle of the street, what would you do?

I pretend I do not see it.

If literally any movie with this exact inciting incident is any indication, then that money surely belongs to a drug lord or crime lord of some sort who will become extremely angry and come after you and everyone you love if you touch it. Though, I suppose it could potentially belong to cops or agents in the process of baiting a drug/crime lord instead...

Either way, best plan of action is to stay away.

Since I decided that I'm doing the No New Things Challenge this month (after reading a book called No New Things: A Radically Simple 30-Day Guide to Saving Money, The Planet, and Your Sanity by Ashlee Piper), I decided to make a post of the lists and exercises that I'll need to repeatedly refer to (and probably add to) throughout the challenge.

April 29: What gives you confidence and why?

    Hm, that's a good question.

If it's about executing a task, or using a skill (like giving a speech or something) then practicing, over and over, makes me feel more confident. Also researching it, and talking to others about it. It makes me feel less lost and a little more in control. More reassured.

    Other than that...

Showers. My skincare routine. Playing with makeup and clothes. (Once again) Good music. Good conversations. Prayers, rituals, good luck charms. Channeling a favorite character or an "alter-ego" of sorts. Inspirational quotes. Writing. Art. Love (both romantic and platonic).

I think I tend to experience confidence as an energy of sorts (rather than as, like, an emotion, belief, or mindset or whatever). So it might feel stronger on certain days than on others... but all of the things I listed help me build that energy up when I need to.

    TWO OF SWORDS
    Indecision, crossroads, uncertainty, overwhelm.
    Two of Sword tarot card
"I release ideas of right and wrong to allow progress."

You're at a crossroads of sorts and are uncertain about which path to take next, or perhaps you're undecided about making a commitment to something. There is no right or wrong answer. No matter which decision you make, the path ahead is ultimately yours to carve.

[PROMPT] In what area of life are you refusing to make a decision or move forward?

krakendelsur: Cardcaptor Sakura holding two cards (cards)
    Seven of Wands [reversed]
    Territorial, Loss of Power, Overwhelm

"Get a hold of yourself and release what doesn't serve you out of your life. Gain back your sense of power and respect by remembering the true essence of who you are."

The Seven of Wands upside down.

This was an interesting draw for me, considering the dream that I had last night... (but I'll write about that in a separate entry later).

In its upright position, the Seven of Wands usually represents standing your ground, asserting your boundaries, etc. In this reverse position, however, it can mean that you're having trouble doing those things because you're doubting yourself (or you're having some inner conflict of some sort), or because you're simply overwhelmed.

On a positive note, this card also invites you to release unnecessary resistance, to let go of the things that just absolutely drain you. It encourages adapability.

Advice for the day: Not everything has to be a knock-down, drag-out fight. Take a moment to decide what's truly important. Choose your battles wisely and trust that you already know how to deal with them.

If this card pull speaks to you, let me know! And if tarot's just not your jam, feel free to scroll past.
